"Clockwork Marshes”
Author: Tomasz Sokolowski
Translated by J. Szajkowska, P. Szajkowski
Trees
Words
Time is running out
You can't see any place to hide
And the books burnt up on the hill won't laugh anymore
Among sad trees
Between shadows and light
We climb up those stone-
We climb higher, breathing the silence in
Among sad walls
Where only dampen rocks dwell in
We climb up those stone-
Rejected even by the soil
The books that have surrounded me won't burn me anymore
The words that have surrounded me won't burn me anymore
Her hand so cold won't touch me anymore
The Moon is gone… she won't look anymore
Clockwork hands
Clockwork lips
In this forest close on my heels
I wish I could hide and fall asleep
Clockwork fingers
Legs
Eyes
I'm alone in this mess
Drowning… drowning!…
drowning… And no one cares
